Tank Farm Security
Diesel tank farms store many thousands of gallons of diesel fuel for use in
refueling railroad locomotives. Like most rail facilities, tank farms typically employ little
capability to detect the ingress of suspicious persons and materials. As such, and since diesel
fuel is under the right conditions quite combustible, tank farms are particularly vulnerable to
attack by explosives. Given that tank farms are often adjacent to rail yards, rail terminals,
intermodal yards and the like, the consequences of an attack could be significant.
Duos' custom, turn-key automated security and remote digital video surveillance
systems establish a security zone (virtual perimeter) around tank farms. A combination of
intelligent video interpretation software and hardware automatically performs highly reliable
detection of moving objects. The system distinguishes between authorized and unauthorized vehicles
and personnel. Unauthorized persons and vehicles are considered intruders unless the system has
been deactivated for maintenance.
Some of the tank farm surveillance solutions Duos can provide:
-
Automatic detection of intruders and suspicious objects left behind (or removed) within
a user defined video security zone.
-
Automatic detection of persons or vehicles in a designated area.
-
Many more rule-based system settings.
Upon perimeter breach, the system automatically deploys audio and visual
alarms, processes live video feed and creates a video digital archive. Local and remote
operators simultaneously view and control cameras positioned throughout the tank farm by
means of a customized, intuitive Graphic User Interface (GUI) allowing simultaneous viewing
of live video, operation of PTZ cameras, and monitoring of the entire security system.
