Security breaches at Transportation Security Administration (TSA) checkpoints are infrequent, but can result in significant passenger delays and expense to both airport authorities and airlines. A security breach can lead to the closure of an entire airport concourse and flight delays, with ripple effects that cause delays at other airports.

Duos designed, developed, and installed a turnkey security visualization system at an International Airport in the southeastern U.S., deploying both its praesidium® intelligent video platform (with a Tag & Track module) and centraco™ command and control platform. The system uses more than 100 real-time video camera feeds to allow airport security personnel to detect intruders who breach a checkpoint, pinpoint a suspicious bag, and detect/track wrong-way movement on the concourse. Once the system “tags” an intruder, it provides constant vigilance as it “tracks” the suspect, handing off images of the intruder from camera to camera.

centraco™ is a computer-aided visualization platform that combines live video images with three-dimensional facility models to produce an intuitive security display. It replaces traditional banks of CCTV monitors with an integrated, easy-to-navigate view that provides security operators with a real-time comprehensive picture of their tactical situation. The system also utilizes computer vision techniques to analyze video images and identify activities that may represent a specific set of threat scenarios.
